The Proposal: Nathan and I (Summer) went met his sister at Railroad Park to walk their family’s two poodles. When I saw the poodles, they both had bandannas around their neck with diamond rings on them. When I turned around, Nathan was down on one knee and the rest is history!
The Wedding Dress: By luck, I was able to design my wedding dress with Heidi Elnora at her Atelier downtown. I went in for my very first dress appointment, and Heidi happened to be in the shop that day. So she popped in, listened to what I had in mind and then sketched up my DREAM dress right in front of me. I said yes to the sketch, and four months later I finally got to see the dress in person. It was a sleek yet classic design with pearl details all along the front and back V. And for the icing on the cake, Heidi loved the dress so much, she just announced that she is adding the dress to her latest line and naming it the “Summer Wales”!
Favorite Moment: The first look! Nathan is not a very emotional person so I wasn’t expecting anything when he turned around, but he was speechless and even shed some tears. It was the sweetest moment and one we will both cherish forever.
Favorite Details: I danced in college at Auburn and have always grown up dancing with my dad around the house, so we had a fun breakout into “Dancing Queen” for our first dance. It was not choreographed, but it had a fun, upbeat twist. Also we love all things Birmingham, so during the ceremony and reception, the wedding party hopped on a bus and headed to a few photo spots for a quick photo-op, complete with biodegradable confetti poppers.
