the proposal:

I (Mallie) went on a beach trip with my girlfriends from home. Little did I know, Joe was busy making big plans for us back in Birmingham. My dad informed me they wanted to have a birthday gathering for my mom and me at our Grannie’s house. Joe accidentally rolled his ankle playing basketball that week, which landed him some crutches and a walking boot. At Grannie’s house on Saturday, Joe had his medicine bag from the pharmacy, but considering the meds he had been taking for his ankle, I hardly even noticed it. As we slowly made our way toward the house, Joe began telling me how much he loves me over and over again. After asking me to take his crutch, he lowered himself down onto one knee. He pulled a box out of his medicine bag, opened it to reveal the most perfect ring I had ever seen, and asked me the best question I had ever heard. Of course, I quickly said “yes!”

favorite moment:

My favorite part of my wedding day was, by far, walking down the aisle. I was anticipating getting to see Joe all day long since we didn’t do a first look, so once the time finally came, I couldn’t have been more excited. There were so many emotions that culminated to that moment from the year that we were engaged. I can still put myself exactly in that moment; it felt like it was just Joe and me in that sanctuary, and we will both always remember that as the best part of our wedding day.
