Fine Folk Art Gallery Exhibit Opening Reception

The annual Fine Folk Art Gallery exhibit will open Friday, Jan. 12, and will run through Feb. 16 at the Shelby County Arts Council. Featured artists include Charlie “Tin Man” Lucas; Teresa Wamble, the Gourd Lady; Mary Ann Casey, Southern Roots Paintings; J.K. Terrell, Stained Glass; Marian Baker, Sassy Southern Paintings; and Larry Stewart, paintings. Entertainment will be provided by Sam Frazier Jr., Music Maker Foundation, Alabama Blues Hall of Fame.

Pelham Public Library Fundraiser

Pelham’s Library Guild is still raising funds in an effort to reach its $300,000 goal for the new Pelham Public Library building. The last day to purchase engraved bricks is Jan. 13. The guild’s engraved brick fundraiser gives residents an opportunity to support the library while also recognizing loved ones or promoting a business. Each engraved brick can have up to three lines and 20 characters. Each engraved brick costs $200 and will be placed in the covered entryway of the library. Eat Right For Life

Start the year off right. This is all about eating the right way. Robbie Lewis is a registered, licensed dietitian with Life Energy Balance, LLC. She has over 15 years of experience with educating individuals toward weight loss, diabetes management, heart disease prevention and much more. Tai Chi for Health Part 2

Local instructor Rachel Hickman will teach this nine-week course in Tai Chi on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Tai Chi is an exercise that improves balance, sharpens the mind and circulates oxygen throughout the body while gently massaging all the joints, ligaments and muscles of the entire body. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes that will not slip during movement. Try not to miss any classes because each class builds upon the previous ones. Newcomers will not be allowed after the second class takes place.
