Evan Herndon & Garrett Ferguson: A Birmingham Wedding

The Wedding Dress: I (Evan) still swoon over my wedding dress. Kelly at the Carriage House in Homewood was such a joy to work with. I told Kelly I didn’t want any lace (I mean I was seriously anti lace), but little did I know she had pulled a beautiful Sareh Nouri dress for me to try on at the end of the appointment. I was hesitant to put it on, but when I did, my heart started to race and I looked at myself in the mirror and blurted out, “I look good!” She put a beautiful cathedral length veil on me and added a gorgeous opal and Swarovski crystal belt to complete the look. The lace for this dress was made by the same lace maker that made the lace for Kate Middleton’s wedding dress. I was basically wearing royal lace!

Favorite moment from the big day: Garrett’s reaction to his wedding gift was the best thing I have ever witnessed. Garrett and I met at Auburn University, and immediately bonded over our love for football. Garrett loves anything Auburn football-related, especially alum Bo Jackson. For a wedding gift, I got him a signed, framed memorabilia jersey from Bo Jackson. He took no time to hang it up front and center in his “man cave” in our new home. My second favorite part was walking down the aisle to see my groom. It was the first time all day I thought I might lose my cool and the tears would start flowing. Garrett was at the end of the aisle in tears.

What you are doing now: Garrett and I live in Auburn with our English Springer Spaniel pup, Peggy. We recently bought our first home together and cannot wait to fill it with lots of memories and make a big family to fill it.
