The Proposal: My now bridesmaids and I (Asia) were having a birthday celebration for one of our sweet friends that I planned. Little did I know that my friends had let me plan this whole day simply as a distraction for what was really in store. Nick was secretly planning with them and our families to propose. When we arrived at Old Baker Farm to take pictures with my friends, Nick had set up the most romantic proposal with a photographer and videographer there to capture the entire thing. He is truly the most thoughtful man.
The Dress: I actually custom put together my dress and veil. I went into Bella’s Bridal in Hoover looking for something fun and different but still elegant and fell in love with the fitted version of my dress. I saw an over skirt to a different dress and decided to put it on top of my own. I wore the over skirt and dress down the aisle and then removed the skirt to have a fitted option for the reception. It was the perfect unique design that was my own!
Favorite Details: My favorite details were definitely my jewelry pieces and bouquet! My vintage gold ring was my great-grandmothers that has been passed down for generations. and my engagement ring was given to me by my mother-in-law, which was very special to my groom. In addition, I wore the earrings that my mother wore when she married my dad and used the detailed sleeve portion of my mother’s wedding dress to wrap my bouquet in.
What We’re Doing Now: As a professional hair and makeup artist, I now reflect on my own wedding day at each job I work. I love that I am with brides first thing on wedding days, and I am usually the last person they see before walking down the aisle to their groom.
