How We Met

My (Brittany’s) work bestie, Elenie, started talking to me about her best friend’s brother-in-law, Ricky, and how she thought we would be a perfect match. The day that Ricky got my number he texted me, and we planned to go to out. It turns out there was only 0.6 miles between our driveways, and we had a lovely dinner at Firebirds in Hoover. The next day Ricky texted me and said, “So I know this is against the rules. I’m supposed to play it cool and wait a while before contacting you again. But I’m a rule breaker. Let’s hang out today.” We spent the whole day at The Summit, and it truly felt like I was hanging out with one of my best friends. I knew that day that there was something special between us.

The Proposal

Ricky’s brother and sister-in-law invited us over to their house for a backyard barbeque to celebrate Ricky’s birthday. When we walked through the front door, the house was oddly quiet, and I noticed a beautiful flower arrangement. When I turned around to face the living room, there were two large white balloons with greenery streamers framing the fireplace, pictures of us on the mantle, glowing candles and rose petals on the floor. The sound system was playing our song in the background. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Ricky then told me that both of our immediate families were on their way over to celebrate our engagement. I immediately called my mom and asked her to bring me a dress. I was dressed for a barbeque, not an engagement party!

The Dress

The ivory dress has an A-line silhouette with a French tulle skirt and just the right touches of beaded lace. I am so happy that I became Mrs. Callaway in this whimsical design!
